About Me and This Blog

Hi there and welcome to my theater corner. Theatre take any form: from dance, drama, improv, cabaret, musical, to contemporary circus, ventriloquism, and puppeteering. As a drama aficionado, I believe that the magic of art performers resides in their ability to convey dream, feeling and thought. This belief is the root of my search of professional and independent theatre gems in bilingual Montreal.

The Delights section highlights productions that I attend, review and highly recommend monthly. If you wish to read past reviews, the Blog Archive is updated weekly. I also animate the theater segment of an Arts and Culture radio show on CKUT 90.3 FM every Monday morning. You can hear my live interviews in the Radio Interviews section, as well as catch us live at Listen to CKUT Radio. - MontrealDramaQueen

Dance Animal Presents: Dance Animal

Dance Animal is a musical theatre production that will make you get up and dance. It won the Just For Laughs "Best of Montreal" comedy prize last year and continues to win positive reviews. What you get is non-stop dancing occasionally injected with monologues by each member of Dance Animal. To hear my review on CKUT 90.3 FM, click on the play button below.

This electrifying cast of 9 dancers is led by creator & choreographer Robin Henderson (leading the pack in the above picture). Robin is known to the theatre world thanks to past contributions notably with the Black Theatre Workshop for Swan Song of Maria (Nov. '09).

Each member of the troupe has his/her own uniquely designated and colourful nickname (e.g., Dance Salmon, Dance Wolf, Dance Banana, etc) with a unique dance style and personality to match.

Dance Animal knows no musical boundaries wooing the audience with pop, breakdance and modern jazz moves to the sounds of classics (Boney M, Jacques Brel, Reel to Real) and contemporary hip/pop, (Pitbull, Coldplay, Michael Buble, Madonna). An absolute must see!

Playing at the Centaur until January 16th 2009.
