About Me and This Blog

Hi there and welcome to my theater corner. Theatre take any form: from dance, drama, improv, cabaret, musical, to contemporary circus, ventriloquism, and puppeteering. As a drama aficionado, I believe that the magic of art performers resides in their ability to convey dream, feeling and thought. This belief is the root of my search of professional and independent theatre gems in bilingual Montreal.

The Delights section highlights productions that I attend, review and highly recommend monthly. If you wish to read past reviews, the Blog Archive is updated weekly. I also animate the theater segment of an Arts and Culture radio show on CKUT 90.3 FM every Monday morning. You can hear my live interviews in the Radio Interviews section, as well as catch us live at Listen to CKUT Radio. - MontrealDramaQueen

The Daily Miracle

With the rise of reading software technology such as Amazon's wireless Kindle, have you ever wondered what would happen to the newspaper industry? Would companies be forced to outsource work to Mumbai in order to cut costs, thus creating job losses here in North America? How has the quality of newspaper content depreciated to make place for sex/entertainment news?
To hear my live review on Montreal's CKUT 90.3 fm, click on the play button below.
The Daily Miracle offers a glimpse of today's newspaper world, hours prior to press. Like every other night, copy editors are working on last minute copy changes while pondering on the future of their jobs. Of course the jargon and office exchanges are very familiar to anyone from the industry as the play is written by David Sherman, a former copy boy/feature writer of The Montreal Star, and The Gazette.

I particularly enjoyed watching actress Ellen David (previously seen in In Piazza San Domenico at Centaur, and best known for her role as the crazy volunteer of Gay Helpline in the Mambo Italiano feature film). She plays the role of smart journalist Elizabeth, torn between her love for a profession that is not what it used to be and her role as a single mother.
Playing at Bain St Michel until February 14th. 514.987.1774.
